№ XIII
Joy is a deliverable
On enjoying the work, enjoying the life around it, and refusing to treat them as opposing forces.
The hustle framing — grind now, live later — has a body count. We’ve watched enough talented people burn out before forty to be done pretending it’s a serious philosophy.
The alternative isn’t laziness. It’s the deliberate refusal to treat work and life as a zero-sum trade. People who enjoy their lives produce better work, on average, than people who don’t. People who enjoy their work go home in a better mood. The compounding is real, in both directions.
What we do about it
Placeholder — describe: four-day weeks, real holidays, the studio as something that fits a life rather than the other way round.
